About Us

South West Wales Corporate Joint Committee - Delivering a sustainable, enterprising, and climate-ready region

The South West Wales Corporate Joint Committee (SWWCJC) brings together Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Pembrokeshire local authorities, working in partnership with Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, to collaborate on the big, strategic issues that shape our region’s future.

Established under Welsh legislation in 2022, the SWWCJC provides regional leadership on economic development, energy, transport and strategic planning. Guided by the Well‑being of Future Generations (Wales) Act, we work across organisational and geographic boundaries to promote sustainable growth, support decarbonisation and improve connectivity across South West Wales.

Our role is to focus on matters best addressed at a regional level, providing clear direction and strong governance on long‑term priorities. This includes delivering agreed regional strategies that help shape a resilient, inclusive and sustainable South West Wales, now and for generations to come.

In contrast to other joint committee arrangements, CJCs are separate corporate bodies which can employ staff, hold assets and budgets, and undertake functions.
