Trecwn is located approximately 3 miles south of Fishguard in North Pembrokeshire. The site formerly served as a Royal Navy armament depot; it extends over 1,000 acres and is accessible via a private road off the A40. Trecwn is part of the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone and benefits from a rail connection.
Trecwn was built by the Ministry of Defence in 1938 and operated as a storage facility for naval explosives and munitions. The site featured 59 underground storage chambers and extensive above-ground buildings. It included infrastructure for three worker housing estates and provided a secure environment. A main railway line, linked to the Fishguard-Paddington route, facilitated transport within the site.
Following its decommissioning in 1992, Trecwn was sold to an Anglo-Irish consortium in 1998 and subsequently to its current London-based owner in 2002. The site has been well maintained and is being assessed for industrial use, such as energy generation and rail-related opportunities. There are a number of old Ministry of Defence buildings and infrastructure at Trecwn, and these are suitable for a range of office, industrial, warehousing, and storage purposes.
RDW Services Ltd manages the maintenance, redevelopment, and marketing at Trecwn.
Proposed Use
Over the past seven years, the site has been maintained to a high standard to ensure it remains suitable for redevelopment. During this period, there has been significant interest from numerous companies with a variety of requirements.
To encourage inward investment, the site has been included in the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone and has already attracted a wide range of enquiries, many of which are rail-related.
The site is suitable for projects requiring the transport of materials, goods, or services—both inbound and outbound—for storage and/or distribution purposes via road and rail.
