Trecwn
Trecwn, located in North Pembrokeshire, is about 3 miles south of Fishguard. The site, a former Royal Navy Armaments Depot, spans 1000 acres and is accessible via a private road off the A40. It has rail access and is part of the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone.
Built in 1938 by the MoD, Trecwn housed naval mines and munitions, featuring 59 underground storage chambers and extensive above-ground buildings. It included infrastructure for three housing estates for employees and a secure environment. The main rail line, connected to the Fishguard-Paddington line, facilitated transport within the site.
Decommissioned in 1992, Trecwn was sold to an Anglo-Irish consortium in 1998 and then to its current London-based owner in 2002. The site is well-maintained and being assessed for industrial uses like energy production and rail-related opportunities. It has a collection of former MoD buildings and infrastructure that are suitable for a range of office, industrial, warehousing and storage purposes. RDW Services Ltd manages its maintenance, redevelopment, and marketing.
Proposed Uses
During the last 7 years, the site has been maintained to a high standard in order to preserve its suitability for redevelopment. During this time, there has been a great deal of interest from many companies with a variety of requirements.
In order to encourage inward investment, the site has been included in the Haven Enterprise Zone and has already received a wide range of enquiries many of which are rail-related.
The site lends itself to projects that require transportation of materials/goods/services in and out for the purposes of storage and/or distribution via road and rail.
